HT's Wafford, OLLU's De La Riva recognized with RRAC baseball weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Gary Wafford of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) earned the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week award for March 31-April 6, while Noah De La Riva of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was picked as the RRAC Pitcher of the Week for the same dates. This is the 11th set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC baseball season.

Wafford homered four times and drove in seven runs as the Rams split a double-header against Xavier University (La.). The senior outfielder from Cibolo, Texas, connected on a solo shot and walked twice as HT lost the first game, 8-2. In the second game, Wafford produced three home runs and six RBIs in an 18-3 rout. For the day, he was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and seven RBIs. Wafford is third in the conference with a .458 batting average and he's seventh in homers (7). The Rams are 9-15 in the RRAC and 14-27 on the season.

De La Riva earned his fourth win of the season in a 3-2 win for the Saints over 10^th-ranked University of Houston-Victoria (Texas). The senior right-hander from El Paso, Texas, scattered five hits and kept the Jaguars scoreless over eight innings of work. De La Riva struck out four and walked two before leaving the game with a 3-0 lead. OLLU is tied for third in the conference at 13-8 with an overall mark of 20-19.
