Xavier's Vazquez, Bergaoui collect second RRAC tennis weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Ivan Vazquez of Xavier University (La.) was tabbed as the RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 24-30, while Xavier's Amira Bergaoui was recognized with the RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the fifth set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC tennis season.

Vazquez went 2-0 in singles and doubles at the LSU Alexandria (La.) Tournament to stretch his current win streak in singles to 12 matches. The sophmore from Cadiz, Spain, played at the No. 3 singles position and defeated Malte Jon Sommer of Texas Wesleyan University, 6-3, 6-3, and he was victorious over Sebastian Ramonos of Texas A&M University-Texarkana, 6-0, 6-1. Vazquez teamed with Gabriel Velez to win both doubles matches, and the pair moved into the national rankings for the first time this year at No. 27. Xavier is ranked eighth nationally with a 10-7 record.

Bergaoui won both of her matches in singles and doubles in a 2-1 week for the Gold Nuggets. The sophomore from Tunis, Tunisia, won at No. 2 singles over Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez of Louisiana Christian University, 6-3, 6-1, and she battled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 26 Kanu Rajawat of LSUA. Bergaoui and Ana Vasilis clinched two close doubles matches as well. Bergaoui is ranked 11^th nationally in NAIA-ITA singles. The Gold Nuggets are ranked No. 11 as a team with an 11-9 mark.
