
Top four seeds advance in RRAC women's basketball tournament quarterfinals
ALEXANDRIA, La. – Everything held form on the first day of the 2025 RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament as the top four seeds advanced to the semifinals at Laborde Earles Coliseum. No. 1 LSU Shreveport will play No. 4 Texas A&M-San Antonio at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while No. 2 Xavier will face No. 3 LSU Alexandria at 5:30 p.m.

Following are the quarterfinals summaries:
LSU Shreveport 84, Paul Quinn 61
Top-seeded LSUS opened the defense of their title with a commanding victory over Paul Quinn. The Pilots, led by coach Tim Hays, opened in a back-and-forth battle with PQC but, by halftime, LSUS built a lead of 38-30. After intermission, the Pilots' offensive power was too much for the Tigers. LSUS received contributions from Paula Gonzalez Herrero, who scored 21 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and Racheal Emmanuel, notching 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Helena Galunic also added 16 points.
The Tigers were led by Canai McPherson and Alura Lofton, who put up 21 and 16 points, but the Tigers were held to 34.8% field goal shooting overall.
Xavier 76, Southwest 64
Xavier continued its late season run by defeating Southwest ,76-64, in the Gold Nuggets' quarterfinal match-up. Xavier has won nine of their last 10 games and moved to 27-2 on the season. They built a 48-34 lead at the half with Kam Shelley and Joy Campbell leading the charge. The Gold Nugget standouts scored 22 and 17 points, respectively. Shelley sank nine field goals, including three from beyond the arc.
Southwest, which finished the season at 10-14, was led by Milinda Arguellez who scored a tournament-high 34 points with seven rebounds. It was not enough to overcome a Xavier team that capitalized on turnovers and controlled the paint with a 44-29 rebounding edge.
LSU Alexandria 74, Louisiana Christian 60
LSU Alexandria won the battle of cross-river opponents, 74-60, in front of a crowd that drew from both campuses. LCU held a 30-29 advantage at halftime, but the No. 3 Generals took control while outscoring the Wildcats 25-10 in the third quarter.
With 1:51 left in the quarter, LSUA was ahead 46-40 before racing to a 13-0 run that extended into the fourth quarter. Dannah Martin-Hartwick sank one of her six three-pointers in that stretch and finished with a game-high 22 points. Justice Young scored 13 and Benedetta Peracchi added 11 for the Generals.
McKayla Price led the Wildcats with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Texas A&M-San Antonio 66, Huston-Tillotson 60
Texas A&M-San Antonio clinched a narrow victory over the Huston-Tillotson, 66-60, in the first postseason game in the short history of the program. The No. 4 Jaguars were led by Evelyn Lorenzo, who scored 21 points and RRAC Player of the Year Natalia Trevino, who added 19.

With the game tied at 48-48 in the fourth quarter, TAMUSA outscored the Rams, 10-3, over the next four minutes to take the lead for good. HT got as close as five points down the stretch, but couldn't overtake the Jaguars. HT's Summer Thomas posted game-high totals with 23 points and 17 rebounds.
