RRAC volleyball players of the week announced for Sept. 30-Oct. 6

WACO, Texas – Taylor Parker of Xavier University (La.) was named the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Xavier's Bengisu Kazazlar earned the RRAC Setter of the Week award, and Tina Trevino of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) garnered RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the seventh set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC volleyball season.  

Parker had a series-high 28 kills as the Gold Nuggets won both matches against Louisiana Christian University. The sophomore middle blocker from Charlotte averaged 4.0 kills per set while posting a .449 hitting percentage for the week. Parker is seventh in the RRAC with a .301 hitting percentage on the season. Xavier improved to 4-2 in conference play and 7-11 overall.

Kazazlar ran an offense that hit .296 in the sweep of LCU. The sophomore setter from Izmir, Turkey, contributed 74 assists and 24 digs in the two-match series while averaging 10.6 assists per set. Kazazlar also set a career high with six service aces in Saturday's victory while tying her career best for blocks (4). She is third in the RRAC with 7.4 assists per set this season.

Trevino led the Saints in digs with 52 in back-to-back victories over Jarvis Christian University (Texas). The senior libero from Laredo, Texas, averaged 6.5 digs per set, and she leads the conference with 423 digs this season. OLLU now sits at 5-1 in the RRAC standings and 12-7 on the season.
