
Final RRAC track and field athletes of the week announced for 2024
WACO, Texas – RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week have been announced for April 15-21 with this week's honorees including Paul Minjoth (men's track – Our Lady of the Lake), De'Jon Lewis (men's field – Our Lady of the Lake), Aziza Clark (women's track – Our Lady of the Lake), and Chante Mathews (women's field – Our Lady of the Lake). This is the seventh and final set of track & field weekly awards for the 2024 RRAC outdoor season.
Minjoth broke the all-time OLLU record in the 800-meter run. The sophomore from Cologne, Germany, raced to a time of 1:53.85 to finish 13th at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet in Houston.
Lewis placed in the top 10 of both the long jump and triple jump at the Duckett event, which was hosted by Rice University (Texas). The junior from New Orleans finished 10th with a 6.76-meter long jump and he was sixth in the triple jump at 13.96 meters.
Clark set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles with an NAIA A-qualifying time. The freshman from Ajman, United Arab Emirates, posted a time of 1:01.71 to finish fifth in the Duckett Invitational. Clark also reached 12th place in the 100-meter hurdles.
Mathews placed sixth in the long jump against NCAA Division I competition at the Rice meet. The graduate student from San Antonio leaped to 5.47 meters against a field of 21 competitors. Mathews also showed her versatility by finishing 15th in the javelin.
