
RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week announced for April 8-14
WACO, Texas – RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week have been selected for April 8-14 with this week's honorees including Charles Dorsett III (men's track – Texas A&M-Texarkana), De'Jon Lewis (men's field – Our Lady of the Lake), Kynnedy Turner (women's track – Xavier), and Elise Adams (women's field – Xavier). This is the sixth set of track & field weekly awards for the 2024 RRAC outdoor season.
Dorsett defeated a host of NCAA Division I competitors as the winner of the 400-meter run at the Carl Kight Invitational hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogoches, Texas. The senior from Fort Worth, Texas, posted an NAIA A-qualifying time of 47.71. Dorsett also finished fourth in the 1500 with a time of 3:56.38.
Lewis bounded to two top-10 finishes at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Cactus Cup. The junior from New Orleans placed eighth in the long jump with a best of 6.81 meters, and he landed in fifth place in the triple jump at 13.47 meters.
Turner, who was the 2023 RRAC champion in the 200-meter dash, produced an NAIA B-qualifying mark in the event on Friday at the Strawberry Relays hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. The junior from Conyers, Ga., placed fourth with a time of 24.75 seconds. Turner also finished eighth in the 100, posting season bests in both events. She was key to Xavier's third-place result in the 4x100-relay.
Adams placed third in the discus and seventh in the hammer throw at the Strawberry Relays. The senior from Baton Rouge, La., tossed for a distance of 37.27 in the discus and 35.36 in the hammer. Adams is now No. 1 in both events in the RRAC this season.
