RRAC Track Athletes of the Week selected for April 1-7

WACO, Texas – RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week have been announced for April 1-7 with this week's honorees including Jalen Bell (men's track – Our Lady of the Lake), Damien Trahan (men's field - Xavier), Jaelyn Mitchell (women's track – Xavier), and Elise Adams (women's field – Xavier). This is the fifth set of track & field weekly awards for the 2024 RRAC outdoor season. 

Bell placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.40 seconds at the David Noble Relays on Saturday. The junior from Killeen, Texas, also finished in seventh in the 100 at 10.43.

Trahan was the runner-up with an NAIA A-qualifying effort in the high jump at the Pelican Relays on Saturday. The senior from Lake Charles, La., reached a height of 205 meters. Trahan's performance was the best in the RRAC this season and ninth best in the NAIA.

Mitchell landed in third place in the 200 meters at the Pelican Relays with a time of 24.74 seconds. The freshman from New Orleans now has the top two times in the RRAC this season and both are B-qualifying level outings. Mitchell also finished seventh in the 400 meters with the third best time in the RRAC this season. She was also part of the Xavier 4x400-meter relay team that placed third.

Adams made into the top nine or four throwing events at the Pelican Relays. The senior from Baton Rouge, La., was fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer throw. Adams' distance in the hammer was the best mark in the RRAC this season at 39.55 meters. She was also seventh in the shot put and ninth in the javelin.
