BIO:

Gaby Lopez won 71.7% of her games over four seasons as the goalkeeper and leader of the Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) women's soccer team. With Lopez in net from 2013-16, OLLU won four consecutive RRAC regular season titles and four conference tournaments.

During Lopez's four years, the team made four national tournament appearances and earned Top 25 rankings in the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Poll. OLLU was the top-ranked team in the conference for 30 of 40 weeks in the polls. In addition, under Lopez's leadership, the Saints suffered just one loss in four years of conference play. That included four victories over the previous RRAC champion, University of Texas-Brownsville and an upset win over NCAA Division II opponent, St. Mary's University (Texas).

In 2016, Lopez received the OLLU Big Blue Top Saint, the award given to the school's top female student-athlete for athletics, community service and academics.

Lopez was a two-time RRAC All-Conference performer, and she was named RRAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. She was a four time RRAC scholar-athlete and a three-time NAIA scholar-athlete.

Lopez  volunteered regularly at TopSoccer, an event that provides athletes with disabilities, both physical and mental, with the chance to play soccer. She also volunteered with the YWCA youth soccer organization to help provide inner city athletes with the opportunity to advance their soccer ability through hard work and fun. She volunteered for youth league at the Wurstfest and  Oyster Bake. She also worked at the San Antonio Food Bank throughout her time at OLLU. Gaby tutored children from Myers Elementary School, reading and doing activities with the children, and she volunteered with the New Braunfels Aggies. Gaby has maintained a 3.7-4.0 GPA throughout her time at OLLU and has earned Dean's List recognition every semester.

Lopez received her Bachelor's degree from OLLU in May 2017, earning a 3.77 GPA. Upon graduation, she moved to Houston to play for the Houston Aces, a professional soccer club in the United Women's Soccer League. Lopez currently is an ergonomics specialist at the Toyota plant in San Antonio.

"Gaby Lopez was the perfect epitome of a student-athlete - she positioned herself as the best goalkeeper ever at OLLU, plus she spent a lot of time working for the community and dedicated her efforts to excelling in the classroom," says OLLU Athletic Director Shane Hurley. "We are beyond proud of all of her accomplishments. Her goal was to play professionally and she has been able to do that. We look forward to all of her future endeavors."
