2025 RRAC Cross Country Championships running early in Texarkana on Friday
WACO, Texas (Oct. 30, 2025) – The RRAC Men's and Women's Cross-Country Championships are set for Oct. 31 and will be hosted by Texas A&M-Texarkana.
The women's course at A&M-Texarkana is a 6K route. Runners will navigate nearby trails and complete three laps. The flat terrain features 90 percent trail and 10 percent grass. Runners will complete four laps around the grassy and trail sections before returning to the lakefront finish line. The event will begin at 9 a.m.
Competing women's teams are A&M-Texarkana, Jarvis Christian (Texas), Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), Southwest (New Mexico), University of North Texas-Dallas and Xavier (La.).
History
OLLU earned championship honors six consecutive years and 10 times overall. In 2024, the Saints outpaced A&M-Texarkana, followed by Xavier and Jarvis. Claiming the top medalist award was OLLU's Mia Curiel with a time of 24:03.6 in the 6K. Freshman of the Year was A&M-Texarkana's Kayla Reeves with a time of 24:53.8.
2025 results
- A&M-Texarkana placed second at the Topper Trails Classic. Zalenka Brannan took third place in the 5K with a time of 19:52.94. The Eagles came in second at the Ouachita Baptist meet. Brannan finished in 12th with a time of 19:05.87 in the 5k.
- Jarvis took fifth place at the Nicole Leman Invitational. Garlanesha Hickman-Gilbert was the top finisher with a time of 27:22.21 in the three-mile run. At the Watson Invitational, the Bulldogs finished in ninth place, and Laci Campbell came in 64th with a 33:42.50 time in the 6K.
- OLLU recorded a second-place finish at the Bearkat Twilight meet. Mia Curiel was the runner-up in the 5K with a time of 19:02.9. The Saints took the top prize at the OLLU Classic, which featured Kristen Torres taking the individual medal with a time of 22:20.2 in the 6K.
- Southwest participated in the Lori Fitzgerald Open. Elianna Saenz placed 52nd with a time of 22:08 in the 5K.
- UNT-Dallas' Madison Blanch led the team at the DBU Old Glory Gallup with a 23:33.33 time in the 5K. She also led the team at the SU Showdown with a 47th place finish and a time of 28:39.10 in the 6K
- Xavier's Jayda Love took 55th place at the Mississippi College Opener with a time of 24:35.98 in the 5K. Chris-Ann Edwards came in seventh at the Loyola Triangular event with a time of 27:39.9 in the 6K.
The men's course at A&M-Texarkana is an 8K route featuring flat terrain with 90 percent trail and 10 percent grass. The run starts and finishes by the campus lake. Runners will complete four laps around the grassy and trail sections before returning to the lakefront finish line. The event will begin at 10 a.m.
Competing this year are Jarvis, UNT-Dallas, OLLU, Southwest, A&M-Texarkana and Xavier.
History
OLLU will be the team to beat after posting championship results in nine consecutive seasons, missing 2022 after coming in first, but an illegible runner resulted in the forfeiture.
Last year, A&M-Texarkana placed second, featuring individual champion Shea Johnson with a time of 26:01 in the 8K and Freshman of the Year Isaac Cupp with a time of 26:40.7 for third place.
The 2024 slate of finishes after OLLU and A&M-Texarkana were Southwest in third, Xavier in fourth and Jarvis in fifth.
2025 results
- A&M-Texarkana placed second in the Topper Trails Classic, and runner Levi Wagner took the individual prize with a time of 27:23.57 in the 8K. The Eagles also finished in second at the Ouachita Baptist meet. Wagner came in sixth place to lead his team with a time of 25:36.64.
- Jarvis recorded a fifth-place finish at the Nicole Lemon Invitation hosted by LeTourneau. The Bulldogs' top performer was Ronny Galvan, who came in 22nd place with a time of 26:40.8 in the four-mile run. The team also placed fifth at the A&M-Texarkana Invite, and Galvan finished in 26th place in the 5K with a time of 20:18.7.
- Our Lady of the Lake won the Bearkat Twilight meet. Damon Gutierrez took the top prize with a time of 15:46.8 in the 3.12-mile run. Isai Moran got the third spot with a time of 16:04.4. The Saints also won the OLLU Invite, with Moran capturing the individual title, recording a time of 25:57.1. Gutierrez followed him with a time of 25.58.0 in the 8K. OLLU is under new leadership from Head Coach Aaron Stallworth.
- Southwest took 15th place at the Texas Tech Opener. The Mustangs were led by Michael Dominguez, who ran a 29:13 in the 8K for 79th place.
- UNT-Dallas is in its inaugural season in the RRAC and is led by first-year Head Coach Darvis "Doc" Patton. The Trailblazers marked an eighth-place finish at the SU Showdown. Major McGill IV was his team's top performer, finishing in 52nd place with a time of 30:46.05.
- Xavier recorded a third-place finish at the Loyola Triangular meet. Ivory Montgomery was the first to finish for his team. He ran the 8K in 30:02 to finish in 14th place. At the Mississippi College Opener, the Gold Rush finished in 12th place, and Montgomery ran the 5K in 18:19.31 for 65th place.
