Historic Invitation: LSUS Becomes First NAIA Team to Visit the White House
WACO, Texas (Oct. 23, 2025) – Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) member LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) made history as the first-ever National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) team to be invited to The White House. The Pilots' historic visit was a celebration of their phenomenal accomplishment of winning the 2025 NAIA Baseball National Championship at the Avista NAIA World Series in Idaho with a perfect 59-0 record.
The team, led by LSUS Baseball Head Coach Brad Neffendorf, received recognition from U.S. President Donald J. Trump and U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, who represents Louisiana's Fourth District. Officials also treated the team to a tour of the White House and the U.S. Capitol.
The NCAA D1 National Champions, the Louisiana State University Tigers, joined the Pilots in this prestigious visit.
LSU and LSUS baseball both won their respective national titles, drawing the attention of the college baseball world to Louisiana and the White House. President Trump was presented with baseball jerseys from LSU and LSUS, featuring his name and the number "47" on the back, signifying his current term as president.
The day ended with a team dinner at Bobby Van's Grill in downtown DC, where the Pilots received their NAIA national championship rings.
