OLLU trio garners RRAC volleyball player of the week awards
WACO, Texas – Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) swept the RRAC weekly awards with Lauren Reynard taking home RRAC Volleyball Setter of the Week, Chanisty Villarreal Bermea winning Defender of the Week, and Mia Francis receiving Attacker of the Week for the dates Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Attacker of the Week: Mia Francis, Our Lady of the Lake
Francis was honored as the RRAC Attacker of the Week for the second straight week after recording 16 total kills (including 12 in one match) as OLLU went 2-0 last week against Louisiana Christian University on October 3 and 4. Francis hit .353 with 2.7 kills per set in the series. Francis is third in the conference with 3.2 kills per set for the season. The Saints are 4-0 in conference play and 7-7 on the season.
Setter of the Week: Lauren Reynard of Our Lady of the Lake
Reynard recorded 56 total assists averaging 9.33 per set against LCU. The senior setter accounted for 30 assists in the first match. Reynard leads the conference with 8.9 assists per set this season
Defender of the Week: Chanisty Villarreal Bermea, Our Lady of the Lake
Bermea defended her weekly award by playing a vital role in OLLU's sweep over LCU. The junior had 29 digs with 4.8 per set for the week. Bermea is tied for the RRAC lead with 4.12 digs per set this season.
