A&M-Victoria's Garcia, Fry grab RRAC women's soccer weekly honors

WACO, Texas – Ayloni Garcia of Texas A&M-Victoria was recognized as the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 15-21, while teammate Abree Fry was awarded RRAC Defensive Player of the same dates.

RRAC Offensive Player of the Week - Alyoni Garcia, Texas A&M-Victoria|
Garcia recorded a career-high output in last Thursday's win over Huston-Tillotson to extend TAMUV's unbeaten run to five matches. The McAllen, Texas, native scored the first and sixth goals against the Rams and provided a pair of assists. It's the second time this season Garcia has had a multi-goal game.

RRAC Defensive Player of the Week - Abree Fry of Texas A&M Victoria
The senior goalkeeper picked up the win and shutout against Huston-Tillotson to extend the Jaguars' unbeaten run. Fry made a career-high four saves in her first collegiate start since 2022 at Antelope Valley Community College (Calif.).

 RRAC Notebook:

  • LSUA's Sacha Backus scored one goal and recorded one assist in the Generals shutout versus Wiley.
  • TAMUT's Desiree Narvaez moved up in the school record books. She sparked the Eagles' offense with three goals in their win over Paul Quinn. With her hat trick, Narvaez climbed to fourth in program history for career goals with 28.
  • LSUA's Audrian Cruz scored the game-winning goal versus Wiley and added an assist on the final goal of the game.
  • TAMUT's Delani Chappell led the Eagles' back line in their 6-0 victory over Paul Quinn. Chappell also had some impact on the Eagles' offense with an assist for one of her team's six goals.

This week in RRAC

Conference play begins on Thursday followed by more on Saturday. The RRAC Game of the Week will feature the North American men' and women at last year's regular season champion, LSU Shreveport.
