LSUA's Echaide, Xavier's Vazquez recognized with RRAC tennis weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Nahia Echaide of LSU Alexandria was honored as the RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 3-9, while Ivan Vazquez of Xavier University (La.) garnered the RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week award for the same dates. This is the second set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC tennis season.

Echaide defeated ITA-NAIA No. 13 Hanna Lindeboom of William Woods University (Mo.), 3-6, 6-3, 12-10. The freshman from Huarte, Spain, also won in straight sets against Beatriz Lambru of Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho) and Paulina Hudson of Texas Wesleyan University. In addition to being unbeaten in singles, Echaide was 2-1 in doubles matches, going to a tiebreak in her only loss. LSUA, ranked 12^th nationally, won all three matches, 7-0.

Vazquez was 4-0 at No. 4 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles in a 2-2 week for the seventh-ranked Gold Rush. The sophomore from Cadiz, Spain, defeated Phil Louis Steinbichler of NAIA No. 6 William Carey University (Miss.), 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5), and he was victorious against Pedro D'Avila Vecchi of Bethel University (Tenn.), 6-4, 6-2. Xavier is now 4-5 on the season after a 2-2 week on the road.
