Davis, Washington collect RRAC men's hoops player of the week honors
WACO, Texas – Justin Davis of Texas A&M University (Texas) was named the RRAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Feb. 10-16, while Tyler Washington of LSU Shreveport (La.) earned recognition as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the 15th set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season.
Davis set a new school record for points in a game with 46 in the Eagles' 97-64 victory over Jarvis Christian University (Texas) on Saturday. The senior guard from Waterbury, Conn., sank 17-of-28 shots from the field and 10-of-15 from three-point range to establish the new mark. Davis also hit double-digits in scoring in a win over Arkansas Baptist University. He is 12th in the RRAC in three-point shooting at 39.2% this season. TAMUT climbed to 15-7 in conference play and 18-8 overall.
Washington compiled six blocks in a 2-0 week for the Pilots. The senior forward from Delhi, La., had three blocks in both victories over Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). Washington also pulled down 18 defensive rebounds and picked up on steal. He averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He is fifth in the conference in defensive rebounds with 115. LSUS jumped to 14-9 in league play and 17-10 on the season.
