NAU's Hammond, Wynn win RRAC men's hoops player of the week awards

WACO, Texas – Jamarric Hammond of North American University (Texas) earned the RRAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award for Feb. 3-9, while NAU's Erric Wynn was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the 14th set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season.

Hammond averaged 25.0 points per game and made 7-of-9 three-point shots in a 1-1 week for the Stallions. The sophomore guard from Orlando, Fla., accounted for 26 points and eight rebounds in a 73-62 loss to second-ranked LSU Alexandria before leading NAU to its first win ever over LSU Shreveport (La.) with 24 points and four three-pointers. Hammond was 17-fo-28 from the field and 9-of-11 on free throws for the week. The Stallions are 6-15 against RRAC competition and 10-16 on the season.

Wynn also contributed to NAU's big week with 11 steals and a pair of blocks. The senior forward from Orlando, Fla., swiped seven steals in the victory over LSUS and collected six defensive rebounds. Wynn also scored 18 points and dished out seven assists in that game.
