LCU's Alonso, LSUA's Weber recognized with RRAC women's soccer weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Maria Alonso of Louisiana Christian University was selected as the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 21-27, while Victoria Weber of LSU Alexandria (La.) garnered the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the 10th set of conference awards for the 2024 women's soccer season.

Alonso scored in both Wildcat victories last week. The junior midfielder from Madrid, Spain, netted a penalty kick goal in a 2-0 win over Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and she delivered the game-winner in a 2-1 defeat of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). Alonso ranks in the top 20 in the conference in assists (10) and points (20). LCU climbed to 9-1-1 in conference play and 10-4-2 overall.

Weber recorded a pair of shutouts as the Generals won two matches on the road. The sophomore goalkeeper from Lafayette, La., made seven saves in a 1-0 victory at Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), and she tacked on four more in a 1-0 defeat of Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Weber has five shutouts on the season, and her 1.02 goals against average is the sixth lowest in the conference. LSUA moved up to 7-2-2 in the RRAC and 8-5-2 on the season.
