Xavier's Barton, George claim RRAC runner of the week awards

WACO, Texas – Skylah Barton of Xavier University (La.) was recognized as the RRAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 2-8, while Xavier's Lejaune George earned the RRAC Men's Runner of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the second award of the 2024 cross country season.

Barton placed 28th in the Mississippi College Opener on Friday. The senior from St. Gabriel, La., finished with a time of 21:40 against 89 competitors in the 5K race. Barton has been the fastest finisher for the Gold Nuggets nine times in her career.

George finished 31st among 134 runners at the men's Mississippi College race. The junior from Zachary, La., posted a time of 16:42 in the 5K distance. George has been the fastest Gold Rush finisher in 12-of-13 career meets. He surpassed 17 NCAA Division I competitors in this event.
