RRAC Golf Operating Procedures

I. Rules

a. Rules governing Red River Athletic Conference regular-season and postseason play are the Official United States Golf Association (USGA) Rules with NAIA modifications. Modifications may be found in the Postseason Competition section of the NAIA Coaches Manual for Golf.

II. Regular Season Play

a. Regular season competition may occur in the fall and spring and will be at the discection of athletic directors and coaches to schedule the tournaments they wish to enter.

III. Postseason Play

a. In seasons when there are six or more RRAC members that sponsor a men's team, the RRAC shall conduct a conference tournament. The same is true when there are six or more RRAC members sponsoring women's teams.

b. Every team that is sponsoring men's or women's golf will qualify for the RRAC Championship.

c. Member schools may bid on the opportunity to host an RRAC championship event. Bids may be made by April 1 of each year for the following year.

d. Tournament formats will be a three-round, 54-hole event with a play five, count four scoring format.

e. When an RRAC championship event is held, the winning team will receive an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship.

f. The RRAC will recognize a team champion and an individual champion from each RRAC Championship event.

g. In the event of inclement weather and in the case where 54 holes are not completed, the results after 36 holes will be final. If 36 holes cannot be completed, the results after 18 holes will be final. If 18 holes cannot be completed, the highest-ranked RRAC team in the most recent NAIA poll, will receive the automatic qualification into the NAIA national tournament.

IV. Awards

a. Conference Champion will be the winning team at the RRAC Championship event. If there is not an event in a year when there are six or fewer participating teams, there will be no conference champion.

b. All-Conference Team will be the top five individual finishers in the RRAC Championship.

c. Golfer of the Year will be the individual champion at the RRAC Championship.

d. Freshman of the Year will be the freshman with the highest finish in the RRAC Championship.

e. Coach of the Year will be determined by a vote of all the conference coaches after the RRAC Championship.

f. Champions of Character - One player from each RRAC team will be selected by his or her coach and will receive an award as a member of the Champions of Character team. This will be a golfer who exemplifies the tenets of the NAIA Champions of Character program.
