HT's Burleson, LSUA's Gray capture RRAC women's hoops weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Wilashia Burleson of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) was selected as the RRAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Jan. 6-12, while Amani Gray of LSU Alexandria (La.) garnered the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the 10th set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 women's basketball season.

Burleson recorded a double-double in the Rams' 78-71 victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas) on Saturday. The junior guard from Temple, Texas, accounted for 24 points and 12 rebounds while going 8-of-13 from the field and 8-of-12 from the free throw line. Burleson is eighth in the conference with 14.3 points per game and seventh with 7.9 rebounds per game. HT improved to 7-5 in league play and 8-7 on the season.

Gray was credited with four steals and three blocks in a 2-0 week for the Generals. The senior guard from Gonzales, La., averaged 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game with 17 defensive rebounds for the week. Gray is second in the RRAC with 102 defensive rebounds this season. LSUA moved to 10-4 in conference action and 13-5 overall.
