Narvaez, Godines recognized with RRAC women's soccer weekly awards
WACO, Texas – Desiree Narvaez of Texas A&M University-Texarkana earned selection as the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 23-29, while Diana Godines of LSU Shreveport (La.) was recognized as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the sixth set of conference awards for the 2024 women's soccer season.
Narvaez tallied two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Eagles. The sophomore forward from Mesquite, Texas, provided an assist in a 10-0 defeat of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) on Thursday then deposited two goals in a 4-1 win over the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) on Saturday. Narvaez is the frontrunner in points among RRAC players this season (23), and she is tied for the lead in goals (8). TAMUT remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 with an 8-0 mark on the season.
Godines limited scoring opportunities for Pilots opponents in a 2-0 week. The junior midfielder from Houston helped hold UHV to two shots on goal in a 3-0 victory and HT to three shots on goal in a 2-0 triumph. Godines also netted a goal in both matches. LSUS improved to 4-0 in the RRAC and 7-2 overall.
